GREG EVANS
I have been drawing and painting all my life.
I am internationally collected, have numerous corporate collectors and my work has been shown on television and the cover of magazines.
The majority of my work is done in Acrylic on Canvas, and Watercolor.
I have a 5 foot x 4 foot painting that has hung for over 20 years in the lobby of the US headquarters of Chevron, the 15th largest company in the US. I had a painting that hung in the office of the main character in Mark Burnet's reality show, "The Casino". My oil and gas artwork has been featured in numerous magazines across the US and the Middle East. I have sold paintings to clients with homes valued at more than $15 million dollars.
I have been represented in prestigious galleries like the Broadmoor Resort in Colorado Springs and the Boulder Arts and Crafts Gallery in Boulder, CO. I've painted LIVE at world-class golf courses and horse shows and race tracks.
Besides being an Artist, I am also a Writer of four Middle Grade (middle school) mystery /adventure novels which I have subsequently adapted into screenplays (“Popcorn Power”, “Harriet, the Robot”, “RollerJet” and "Dancing with Dolphins".)
I have also Written and Illustrated two children's books (“Reach for the Stars” and “How High Can You Fly?”.) These stories were written for my son and have a self-esteem theme. The Kid's Art - Self-Esteem Gallery on my website is mostly based on my illustrations for "Reach for the Stars". The paintings all have a self-esteem theme written on them.
For over 20 years, I have volunteered on a weekly basis teaching art classes to artists from Disadvantaged Youths to Mentally Challenged Adults to Seniors in an Assisted Living Home.
I live with my wife, Sally, and dog, Bella, in Niwot, Colorado (a small semi-rural town near Boulder in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, with lots of farms, horse ranches and craft beer breweries.)
My wife, Sally, is wonderful fine artist – www.SallyEvansArt.com.
Paint with More Passion
As an artist, I try to capture the intensity, passion and emotion of people and nature.
I am largely a self-taught artist, and I have been drawing and painting all my life. I have been influenced by the action and color of LeRoy Neiman and the portraiture of Dennis Frost. My foremost concern when I paint is the movement and action of the subject.
I want my paintings to move.
When I start to paint, the first thing I do is turn on music which makes me want to dance. I listen to anything from rock ‘n roll to country to soul to classical. The important thing is that I can feel the movement. When the mood is right, I can lose myself in the painting.
When I’m painting well, I’ll paint fast and hungry like I have an outrageous deadline. When I paint slow and deliberate, my paintings become tight and the motion slows down to a crawl.
I have a sign in my studio that reads “MORE PASSION!!!” It is a constant reminder to paint with more intensity. I try to paint fearlessly. My best paintings sometimes take the least amount of time.
I want my painting to stand out in a room.
I want it to catch your eye as you turn your head.
I want it to draw you in and hold you there.
I want it to encourage you to come back over and over, and always see something new.
